More communication problems?

The  ramp to Hancock Street on the northbound side of the NRB is closed this AM due to repaving the road below. The problem is you don't know about it until  it's too late as there are no signs warning of the closure until you are right on top of it.

This is the third year of my commute from the South Shore to the Metro West via QSD and unfortunately an alternative route is not an option. I have been patient with the lack of information and updates about this project but this is ridiculous now.  My morning commute has increased over 35 minutes due to the bridge work. There are no workers in sight, one state police officer day after day standing there talking on his cell phone or sitting in his cruiser. What is the hold up day after day? What is the specific day/week that we can expect project completion? Why isn't their better communication about the project, timely traffic alerts, better traffic flows, etc. Why is work being done during prime commuter traffic hours and not at night or during middle of the day? Where are the community meetings? When will the J.F. White Construction company take accountability for their poor project management and step up to be a responsible business and respectful community player and provide commuters the information we need. Why is this taking so long and when will we see traffic improve? We need answers and some major improvements now!!

I am so glad I left early today - that is a MAJOR inconvenience! I wish I could bike to work again. Can't wait for this all to be over & done with.

Does it appear to anyone else that they are moving backward? I thought he project was almost done and now the pavement is all torn up again. This is rediculous.

No progress at all. Over a week ago, the road was torn up -- since then the workers have all disappeared.

Road torn up, left lane closed (again) going inbound from Quincy Shore Dr. Traffic backed up on secondary route - Commander Shea Blvd. - all the way into Marina Bay. As I type this, sitting on the shuttle bus that runs between N. Quincy T station/Boston Scientific/Marina Bay, we've been stuck on Commander Shea Blvd. for 15 minutes -- JUST TO GO APPROX. 1/2 MILE!!!

The Hancock Street bridge (over the Red Line) reconstruction happening concurrently compounds this mess. They are repaving that bridge and there's a long line of traffic backed up on Hancock St. going towards Neponset River Bridge that is exiting onto Commander Shea Blvd. (where Applebees is) and adding ANOTHER lane of traffic to same merge point where Commander Shea Blvd. connects to Quincy Shore Drive (right before the bridge, in between the 2 mid-rise condo complexes and the dry cleaners).

3 lanes of Quincy Shore Drive traffic + 2 lanes of Commander Shea Blvd. congestion (1 lane from each direction) all merging at same point into ONE LANE onto bridge is a Stage 5 traffic disaster every morning. Makes the Big Dig traffic seem like a Sunday morning drive.

Didn't they ever hear of "night work"?!

This whole bridge repair has made me late to work 7 times in 2 weeks. I cannot wait until this is over!!

I live in Quincy & commute to Chelsea everyday. In the time that this bridge has been under repair they have taken down and built a brand new bridge in Chelsea. I hope this ends soon.

7:40am on Wed 9/19/2012 traffic backed all the way up Commander Shea Blvd (coming out of Marina Bay) all the way into Seaport Drive in Marina Bay! Too many QSD commuters think they are taking "shortcut" by going longer way by turning right onto E. Squantum, left into and thru Marina Bay, then left onto Commander Shea Blvd. When it's as backed up as it is, it takes 15+ minutes just to go 1/2 mile to get thru the 5-lanes-merge-into-1 bottleneck.

Guess this is what happens when the city of Quincy hit the "MegaMillions jackpot" in public funding for multiple bridge repairs to be done concurrently. The N. Quincy area resembles the Big Dig w/ the Neponset River Bridge and the Hancock St. overpass being completely rebuilt at same time.

But the lack of communication from the MA DOT and city of Quincy is at best, appalling.

If this is all you folks can complain about after three years, the contractor is doing a good job! If you want a good paving job, you pave during the day - not at night. Be happy MassDOT wants to do a good job.

THEY ARE MILKING THE PROJECT!!! If they finish early they don't get paid the full amount as if they were to finish around their projected time--- Which is BS!!
